25: Anxiety, Depression, Addictions And The Kryptopyrrole Link

If you or someone you love has been experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, addictive tendencies or cognitive decline (e.g. Altzihmers) then this show is for you! Have you heard of Kryptopyrroles? This is the topic of todays episode because of their direct link to all the conditions we listed above.

The short version is that we can now test (via a urine sample) if you have a condition call Pyrrolurea which leads to high levels of Kryptopyrroles and HPL in the blood (also known as Mauve Factor)... these byproducts can then bind to essential nutrients like Zinc, B6, Biotin and GLA which can in turn wreak havoc with your body, especially obstructing the production of healthy neurotransmitters, thus leading to a long list of symptoms including:

  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Depression
  • Bi-pola
  • Schizophrenia
  • ADHD & learning difficulties
  • Violent behaviours
  • Cognitive decline
  • Low mood/mood swings
  • Lowered immunity (constantly sick)
  • Fatigue
  • And much more!

There are some very easy ways we can test for this and we can begin treating immediately with nutrient therapy, which can almost immediately begin to reduce symptoms and in a lot of cases can eventually replace the need for medications (if you are positive for Pyrrolurea or a polymorphisim).

So there is hope! And there are lots of wonderful new discoveries in this area of research that can begin helping you today back to health and living life to the fullest! Listen now to get all the details. Email or call us on the clinic if you would like to get tested to see if you have Pyrrolurea, we'd love to help you get to the bottom of things and get you back to health!

22: Top Herbs For Stress, Anxiety & Fatigue

In this show Angela delves into the remarkable world of Phytotherapy and herbal medicine as she discusses a group of herbs called 'Adaptogens'. These herbs have a remarkable ability to assist our body in adapting to stressors - either mental, emotional or physical - helping the body back to homeostasis, boosting our energy and immunity and helping us heal.

Studies have shown that these adaptogenic herbs can reduce blood cortisol levels by up to 27% and overall stress, anxiety and insomnia markers by 75%. This is a remarkable result, especially when there are little or no side effects from herbs compared to the long and varied side effects from conventional medications. This makes herbal remedies, and specifically adaptogens, a very valuable addition to any treatment plan, to help your body heal, recover and reach it's ultimate potential.

Listen today to find out more ways adaptogens can start helping your body back to health and energy today!

16: Food Sensitivities & Leaky Gut

Have you ever noticed that every time you eat a certain food you get symptoms? If so you may be suffering from food Sensitivities. Recent research showed 1 in 5 Australians suffer from one or more food sensitivities and that sensitivities, as apposed to true allergies, can take up to 7 days to cause a reaction, which can make it tricky to accurately identify which foods are causing your symptoms.

Food sensitivities can cause a wide range of problems including gut symptoms of bloating, pain, diarrhea or constipation as well as skin conditions - eczema, dermatitis, rashes, acne and fatigue, headaches, mood changes, lowered concentration, forgetfulness, brain fog, inflammation, muscle and joint pain and much more!

In this episode Angela covers what causes food intolerances, how we can test for and treat them effectively to improve our health and quality of life.

Angela explores the link between leaky gut and food intolerances, how the immune begins to react to cause the symptoms we experience, how we can use IgG pin prick blood tests to clearly identify the exact foods that we are reacting too and her program for removing those trigger foods and healing the gut so we may be able to eventually reintroduce them into the diet without symptoms.

3 Take Away Keys

  1. Food sensitivities affect 1 in 5 Australians

  2. Food sensitivities (as apposed to true allergies) can take up to 7 days to produce symptoms

  3. To begin healing you need to identify the trigger foods through accurate testing (IgG blood testing), eliminate the trigger foods for 3 months or more while working on healing the gut and resolving leaky gut. Once this is done you can begin challenging the foods back into the diet one at a time.

15: Treating Heartburn and GORD

Do you ever feel indigestion after eating? Have you experienced that burning sensation in your chest? Perhaps you worried you were having a heart attack so you went to the doctor, got it checked out and he has now told you "You have heart burn, take an ant-acid or PPI and you'll just have to live with it”. If this is you, you’re not alone. Research shows that heartburn and GORD affect 1 in 4 Australians and can range from being annoying and uncomfortable through to debilitating, greatly reducing quality of life.

In this episode Angela uncovers the key drivers for this condition and how we can utilise diet, lifestyle and natural supplementation to greatly reduce and even resolve the symptoms. Angela also explores the vitally important difference between too much stomach acid and too little stomach acid, both of which can cause the same symptoms of heartburn, and how taking a PPI or ant-acid can actually be more detrimental if you are in the majority of people who have too little acid.

5 Steps To Recovery:

  1. Improve diet – reduce fatty foods, chocolate, alcohol, spicy foods and acidic foods such as oranges, caffeinated and soft drinks. Beware also of large carbohydrate meals. Increase protein content to aid strengthening of connective tissues (ie. spinchter tone) 0.8 – 1g protein per / 1 kg of body weight, Increase fresh fruit and vegetable content. Use wholegrain carbohydrates.

  2. Weight loss

  3. Stress reduction

  4. 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or lemon before meals to help lower stomach pH

  5. If necessary include naturopathic supplementation for a time - enzymes and digestive support as well as soothing, demulcent herbs and bitters.

In this episode Angela explores these valuable nutrients in nuts, shows us the best ways to prepare and activate them to make it easier on our gut to digest, and discusses some little known facts about pseudo nuts such as cashews and peanuts and why they can sometimes cause more harm than good.

  2. Activate your nuts before eating them to make sure they are easily digested – this includes soaking them overnight and using a dehydrator or low oven (about 40 – 50C) to dry them out for 6 – 24 hours.

  3. Ensure you store your nuts well – keep away from heat, sunlight or excess oxygen, dampness or mould. Best to be stored in a glass, airtight container in the fridge or a cool, dark cupboard.

Minerals play a key role in the optimal functioning of our bodies. Some minerals in particular are needed in the body in greater amounts - one of these is Magnesium. It plays a role in over 300 biochemical reaction in the body, it is involved in muscle and nerve function, energy production, digestion and much more.

Unfortunately with our soils being depleted of these minerals, poor dietary choices and increased stress means that upwards of 75% of the population are now deficient in this essential element.

If you suffer from migraines, PMS, headaches, muscle aches, pains, cramps and twitches, nervous system disorders, poor mood, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, palpitations, improper heart function, fibromyalgia, diabetes, osteoporosis, RLS, insomnia, autism, ADD, metabolic syndrome, acne, psoriasis - then this show is a "must-listen" for you!

  3. To assess if you are deficient: Consider your current signs and symptoms, you can look into getting a Magnesium RBC test which will assess the levels of magnesium inside the cells, also consider HMA for heavy metal testing. If you are deficient look at switching to organic foods and including higher amounts of dietary sources, also consider supplementing if necessary.
